Who Can Apply — Compassionate Ground Eligibility

Dependent of a Deceased Assam Rifles Personnel (Died During Service): If an Assam Rifles soldier died during active service (natural causes, accident, or illness while in uniform), one dependent from the family can apply. Required: death certificate, relationship proof, service record copy.
Dependent of a Martyr (Killed in Combat or Encounter): If the personnel was killed in battle, combat operation, or encounter with enemy forces, dependents are prioritised. Required: gallantry/casualty award documents, unit certificate of martyrdom, next of kin certificate.
Dependent of a Medically Discharged Personnel (Pension on Medical Grounds): If the soldier was invalided out of service on medical grounds and is drawing a disability/medical pension, one dependent can apply. Required: Medical Board proceedings copy, pension order, relationship proof.
Dependent of a Missing Personnel (Gone Missing During Service): If the Assam Rifles soldier went missing during active duty and has been declared missing by the competent authority, dependents can apply. Required: FIR copy, unit report of missing personnel, related official documents, and relationship proof.
One Dependent Per Family Rule: From each family, only one dependent can apply and be appointed under this compassionate ground recruitment. If multiple dependents apply, all applications from that family may be rejected. Ensure only one family member submits the application.

Rifleman GD (General Duty) — Male & Female

Rifleman GD is the front-line troop category of Assam Rifles. GD personnel handle operational duties, security, patrolling, and field deployments. Both male and female candidates are eligible for this post. Typing proficiency in English (35 WPM) or Hindi (30 WPM) is required in addition to 12th pass qualification.

Selection Process — All Stages Explained

Written Examination
Candidates clearing PFT appear for a written test covering General Knowledge, General Science, Mathematics, and English language. For technical posts, trade-specific questions may be included. Document Verification
Original documents are verified by the recruitment board. All documents submitted in the postal application must be produced in original — educational certificates, DOB proof, compassionate ground documents, relationship proof, ID proof, and category certificate. Any mismatch between documents and application data leads to immediate disqualification.

Medical Examination
The final stage is a comprehensive medical fitness examination at a designated military hospital or medical facility. Vision, hearing, cardiovascular fitness, and overall health are evaluated against armed forces medical standards. Candidates declared medically fit proceed to final selection and appointment.
